Happy Father’s Day
June 19, 2011 4:44 pm Personal
On a wedding day we get to capture many moments through out the day that the couple might forget later. On this Father’s Day we wanted to highlight a few of those moments that have been dear to us. The relationship between a father and his daughter is extremely special and on her wedding day we see some of the toughest men brought to tears as they see their little girls all dressed up and ready to start a new chapter of her life. Whether it is the father daughter dance or the last moment before he walks her down the aisle, the moments shared with just the father and daughter have been some of our favorites to capture. Those last glances with her on his arm melt my heart and bring me to tears as I edit.
To all the fathers who have given us the privilege of capturing your daughter’s wedding days, we thank you! We thank you for all the hard work you put in to raise your children and provide for them. Thank you for loving your little girls!
And last but definitely not least, my own dad. Thanks Pop for being such a great father, for encouraging us to always reach for our dreams, teaching us to hold nothing back, to laugh our way through life, and to love with all our hearts! I love you!
Cheers,
Savannah

Wednesdays with the Kenneys: Sunrise walks
June 15, 2011 5:19 pm Personal
When we were in Hawaii we went on a walk at sunrise. It was one of our favorite memories of the trip. This morning we both were wide awake at 4:30. Why, we aren’t really sure. After realizing we weren’t falling back asleep we decided to take Amydog for a walk. With the crazy heat that Memphis has been having AD hasn’t been getting enough exercise. Well apparently 5:30 is the perfect time to walk her. It is much cooler and it is amazingly peaceful. We saw a few deer prancing through the fields as we walked and it was nice to be the only ones at the dog park.
Philip has been wanting to get a couple good sunrise shots here in Memphis and so we took a camera along. The sunrise was pretty but nothing fantastic. We love morning light and it was perfect for grabbing a couple images of our little family. When shooting weddings we tend to use a lot of artificial lights so it was nice to enjoy the simpleness for the golden sunrise.
AD loves to pose for us. Such a good dog
Apparently I didn’t look in the mirror before leaving… 6 am hair in all its glory. But I love this image of AD and I
Bright eyed and bushy tailed! Can you guess which one of us is the morning person?
And to end, one of my absolute favorites of the three of us! It is simple but it shows us so well! I only wish Troubadour was in it
(handy dandy tripod and self timer action going on)
Any other early risers out there? Or insomniacs? What do you do when you can’t sleep?
Cheers,
Savannah and Philip

So we are a little behind on our Wednesdays with the Kenneys… Two weeks ago we were on a plane all day flying to Hawaii, last week we were in serious hangover from jet lag from coming back from Hawaii, and yesterday we were still battling getting caught up from being gone for a week. Phew. Been as little busy here with wedding season in full swing and traveling for a wedding.
So this week we thought we would share a few frames from Hawaii that we took on our point and shoot. While we were there primarily for a wedding we did have a few days of free time to explore the island of Oahu. This was our first time to Hawaii and it was everything we thought it would be and more! Being huge fans of Lost it was hilarious being on the island where they filmed most of the show. I was expecting Hurley or Kate to come around the corner at any moment. Sadly no sighting of Lost characters but plenty of beauty to be seen.
The shot above was from our first evening on the island. We had been traveling all day, up since 4 am Memphis time, and were worn out. We found the nearest beach and just sat and enjoyed the sunset. Our first sunset there and it was by far our favorite. Pretty sure we were hooked from that moment on…
Our first morning on the island we were wide awake at 5 thanks to jet lag and we decided spur of the moment to find a beach to watch the sunrise. This was one of our favorite things of the whole trip (on a personal level). Nothing beats driving east and seeing this as you drive:
We pulled off to enjoy the light on the mountains, such an amazing sight:
Good ole self timer with the camera on the car
This ended up being our very favorite beach. We found it by just driving and driving, hoping that what was around the corner would be better than the last beach. We were right. I believe this is Makapu’u Beach. Again another self timer image.
This was a hike known as The Pill Box hike. You start at the base of this mountain and hike up to World War II pill boxes that give you a 30 mile view of the island. This is about half way up:
And the view (one side) from top:
The not so great luau we went to… ask us about it in person, it makes a very funny story
I was really hoping to see the Smoke Monster come out of here… Hey a girl can hope.
One of my favorite spots. This temple (still considered a holy Buddhist temple) was used in the last session of Lost. It was neat to see this place not only because it was on the show but to see the contrast of the man made and the natural world. Both are beautiful and compliment each other perfectly…
We still have a bunch of landscape images from our full frame cameras and can’t wait to take a look at those. We’ll be posting those soon, so stay tuned!
Cheers,
Savannah and Philip

Wednesdays with the Kenneys: Date night!
May 11, 2011 4:26 pm Personal, Wednesdays with the Kenneys
Welcome back to another Wednesdays with the Kenneys! First up, the winner from last week: Tatiana Putra! Her favorite summer time event is: Cooking out with family and friends/eating outside… (reminiscent of the good ole days of Monday nights at the Meadows ![]()
Congratulations Tatiana! You win a gift card to Yolo!
Monday night we had a spur of the moment date night. Since we work together all week we make sure to take lots of date that are not work related. We aren’t allowed to talk about anything business related and we just enjoy one another’s company. These date nights typically are just out to dinner and a good conversation so Monday we decided to mix things up a bit.
Our city’s NBA team, The Memphis Grizzlies, have made it into the playoffs! This is the 10th year for team in our city and I’ll be honest, they have find of stunk for the past 9 years. Game attendance has always been low and we have poked fun of the team. Well this year they managed to be pretty awesome and are in the second round of the playoffs! Very exciting time for our city! Monday was game 4 in the series and we happened to get tickets to the game.
If you follow basketball at all you probably heard how the game went. It went long is what it did! The game went into triple overtime! I have only been to a few live games and let me tell you, this was by far the best one! The crowd was on their feet almost the entire game! They had a “white out” so Grizzlies shirts were provided to all who came and it was so much fun seeing the crowd unified. They also gave away “growl towels” to wave. These kind of cracked me up. The slogan for the team while in the playoffs has been “We Believe.” While I am all about the city standing behind the team, I find it hilarious that we are believing in miracles for the team
Even though the Grizzlies ended up losing we had a great time! We sat way up in the nose bleed section but that didn’t matter, the crowd was just as engaged way up in the rafters. We screamed, yelled, jumped up and down, clapped, and waved our growl towels like we were diehard fans! It was one of my favorite nights with Philip! We might be late to join the bandwagon of Grizzlies fans but we sure had fun doing it!
In our complimentary XL tshirts ![]()

A few from our seats, way up high!

So what is your favorite date night? We are always looking for new fun things to do together so please share with us your favorite things to do!
Cheers,
Savannah and Philip

Wednesdays with the Kenneys: Rain, walks, and a new camera.
May 4, 2011 6:40 pm Personal
The sun is out!!! Yesterday we woke up and I wanted to jump for joy seeing sunshine outside. With all this crazy rain and tornadoes and flooding, we were about ready to start hibernating and not come out until summer. But thankfully the sun has graced us with its presence once again.
We were out my parents house on Monday and I grabbed the above image. I don’t think that I have ever seen rain come down so hard in my life! Philip was drawing up plans to build a boat instead of driving home. But thankfully the clouds ran out of rain and the sun can be seen again! YEAH!
With the sun being out we can once again go on our semi daily walks with Amydog. Since getting Troubadour we haven’t been able to walk AD, she hasn’t been very happy with this. So yesterday evening we took the pup on a nice long walk at Shelby Farms. It was great to get out and enjoy the fresh air! Nothing beats a good walk after weeks of rain. The air was fresh and the air cool. Such a beautiful day! Walks are by far one of our favorite things to do as a couple and with Amydog.
Since Philip and I pledged to take more pictures of our everyday life (for our own keepsake) we knew that we would need more than our big cameras (the pro ones we shoot weddings with) and our camera phones. Philip has been searching for months (we don’t do things lightly) for the perfect camera for us. We wanted something small but something powerful. Basically our professional cameras in pocket form. He finally decided on an Olympus E-PL2 and we are loving it so far. We have complete control of all out settings, like on our Nikons, and it will fit in my purse for every day use. One awesome thing about it is we can still use our lights with this camera. So it is a very very glorified point and shoot but hopefully we will be better at documenting out life
I’m super excited about it! So here are a few of our first images with the new camera.
Taking Troubadour to meet my family:
On our walk Tuesday
Hey look a picture of us together, Myspace profile style
She will always be my little baby. Isn’t she so pretty in the golden light.
We told you a little bit about our favorite summer activity so now tell me, what are your favorite things to do as a family, by yourself, with a friend? What do you look forward to doing this summer in your spare time? To make this fun, the best summer idea will win a gift card to one of our favorite summer time eateries: YoLo! (If you haven’t been to YoLo, it is a self serve yogurt place here in Memphis that serves delicious yogurt and uses local places for toppings)
Post your comments below and we will pick a winner Next Tuesday and announce it next week on our Wednesday with the Kenneys!
Cheers,
Savannah and Philip
